Garden Description

A series of fountain statues have been found, of which two could belong to the same decorative group as a nearby public nympheum close to one of the city’s fora. The first statue-fountain, in the Archaeological Museum of Cordoba, represents a marble female figure in the form of a nymph with a shell, similar to another found in a private collection, of which only the lower part with the remains of a shell still exists. The similarities between the two indicate their manufacture in a workshop in the city itself, which from the style suggests a date around the second century AD.
