Garden Description

Three fragments of a large funerary inscription found in the seventeenth century near a church at Briord (in the territory of the Ambarri) record part of the text establishing a foundation for the observance of annual rites at a tomb site ([ad Pa]rentalia celebranda…haec omnia annua fierent) from the revenue of an arepennis (a Gallic measure of land, equivalent to half a iugerum, about one quarter of an acre) of vineyard, or some portion of it.
